Trizzzza and I went to Nuba at the Waldorf Hotel for a birthday lunch. I ordered the daily vegan soup and the Najib special. I have to say it was probably among the worst meals I've had in a long time, as illustrated by Trizzzza's face. I'm not sure what's going on but my experiences at the Waldorf have been less than stellar and contradictory to all the hype buzzing around this place. And I've eaten at Nuba before and it was good, perhaps the Gastown location hasn't shared its secret? So..looks like it's three strikes yer out. For now I guess. Then we headed over to 7 Sweet Sins for some dessert. The carrot cake made up for the disaster lunch. Add Comment I got this pin at the Tate Britain in 2005 while visiting friends who were on exchange. I think it is intended for children but I liked the irony of wearing it myself. Now it sits on display with some family pics on a fun little photo holder, dubbed Sputnik as it resembles some kind of mid-century space craft, given to me by my friend Marc. He's cool. In an effort to find one specific photo taken nine years ago (already?!?) that I've been thinking about recently, I found several that I hadn't been thinking about. But I still haven't found what I'm looking for (gratuitous U2 reference) I checked out the new Aquatic Centre at the Vancouver Olympic Centre tonight. I've started up my routine again, it feels really good to be back swimming. It was designed by Hughes Condon Marler Architects and I have a feeling the people on the design team weren't avid swimmers. I could go on a little pool/swimming lane etiquette rant about all the annoying encounters I've had (at every pool I frequent here) but I think I'd just be wasting energy on typing. These are just some of the things that will never change no matter how much you want them to. I guess this is where they put the ice rink snow to melt after the Zamboni eats it. It's kinda ingenious really. Welp, you can't exactly complain about that view now can you? Do not be alarmed, this building was not ablaze. It was cold out and I deduced by the lovely smell of fabric softener, this was dryer exhaust. My question is, what would a church be laundering? My friend and I watched "Black Swan" tonight. I've always wanted to take pictures during a movie and thought this would be a good one to experiment with because I knew there would be some beautiful visuals. The first photo is from a movie coming out with Cate Blanchett called "Hanna." I think there will be some nice visuals in that one too.. Golden delicious apples are my favourite. I eat them with peanut butter. |
