I've lived in the same apartment since moving to Vancouver in 2006 and have never had a bird venture onto my balcony...until now. Apparently the wool rug I have out there is perfect for pulling apart with their beaks and then flying away somewhere to, what I can only assume, build their nest. There's two of them and they are in cahoots, one sits on the ledge as a lookout while the other pulls at the rug. It's interesting to watch but I just can't condone such behaviour.
