Looking specifically at the works of modern artists and architects, I produce chemical paintings that question traditional ideas of image making. Relating back to classical painting through scale and inspired by the Abstract Expressionist paintings of Jackson Pollock, whose paintings are unexpected and unrestricted, layered and unplanned, and who created an experiential image that goes beyond recognizable forms, I create large-scale Chemigrams. These works help to fracture the barrier of what a photograph is or should be. By painting with light and chemicals, I create unique and original work that cannot be duplicated. Throughout the fluidity and motion of line and tonality, are complex spaces where the viewer is invited to explore the detail of the layers.
